Introduction to Products and Services Modified on Fri, 11 Apr at 1:23 AM

Each product or service you buy, sell, or use in assembly must have a dedicated record in VentryHub. These records store essential details like pricing, suppliers, images, descriptions, and more. To start managing your inventory efficiently, add your products and services into VentryHub.

Prerequisites

Before adding products, ensure you've:

  • Set up locations

  • Configured accounts

  • Established tax rules

  • Set up suppliers (recommended)

Product and Service Permissions

Assign inventory permissions to grant users either full or read-only access to inventory features, such as creating or editing products, managing prices, and viewing stock values. You can also create roles with predefined permissions for easier user management.

Product and Measurement Settings

Configure default measurement units, set SKU naming patterns, and manage other product-related settings.

Adding Products and Services

VentryHub supports multiple product types:

  • Products: Physical items tracked in inventory.

  • Product Families: Variations of a product (e.g., shirts in various sizes/colors).

  • Services: Non-physical transactions, such as training or shipping.

  • Non-inventory Products: Items bought or sold without inventory tracking, like office supplies.

  • Gift Cards: Special payment method products.

When connecting for the first time, set initial stock quantities after adding products.

Creating Products and Services

  • Manually create products and services directly within VentryHub.

  • Set default values to streamline repetitive entries.

Importing Inventory Lists

  • Bulk import or update products via CSV, ideal for initial setup or migrating from another system.

Downloading from Integrations

  • Import products from sales channels or accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks Online, or Shopify.

  • VentryHub imports product data (excluding stock levels, except Fulfillment by Amazon). Perform a stocktake afterward.

Setting Prices

  • Define up to 10 pricing tiers per product, either manually or automatically calculated (e.g., percentage markup).

  • Assign custom pricing for specific customers, overriding standard prices.

Product and Carton Dimensions

  • Record product dimensions, weights, and measurement units (optional but necessary for fulfillment services).

  • Set carton dimensions to accurately manage overseas shipments and landed costs.

Configuring Suppliers

  • Link suppliers and prices to automate purchasing processes, such as dropshipping or restocking.

Adding Images

  • Upload images and attachments directly or via CSV links (e.g., Dropbox or Google Drive).

  • Images sync across connected sales channels.

Applying Discounts and Deals

  • Create custom discounts or markups for individual or grouped customers.

  • Build complex promotional deals to boost sales.

Additional Units of Measure

  • Specify multiple units per product, such as individual items or bundled packages (e.g., a single bottle or a case).

Listing Products on Sales Channels

  • Upload and manage product listings across integrated sales channels via the Channels tab.

Viewing Products and Services

  • Easily access detailed records, create new entries, and perform bulk actions from your product list.

Product Availability

  • Monitor inventory availability, allocated stock, pending deliveries, and detailed product movement records.

Deprecating and Deleting Products

  • Deprecate products to remove them from active inventory while retaining historical data.

  • Completely delete products only if they have no associated transactions.

Printing Product Information

  • Generate printable labels with barcodes, SKUs, and prices for customer-facing operations.

  • Print detailed product specifications (dimensions, BOM, suppliers, pricing).

Merging Products

  • Consolidate multiple similar products into one primary record to streamline management.

Importing and Exporting Product Information

  • Export product details as CSV files, edit externally, and re-import efficiently.

Supported CSV imports/exports include:

  • Inventory lists

  • Stock levels

  • Fixed assets

  • Discounts

  • Assembly BOMs

  • Units of measure

  • Stock reorder points

  • Supplier pricing

  • Smart reorder setups

  • Images and attachments

  • Markup and custom pricing

  • Bulk SKU updates
