Creating Products and Services
Before buying, selling, or manufacturing, you need to create product and service records in VentryHub. Initially setting up VentryHub requires adding stock quantities on hand.
Prerequisites
Configure business locations
Set up your chart of accounts
Create supplier records (recommended)
Creating a New Product or Service
To add products and services:
Navigate to Inventory > Products.
Click + Add.
Complete required fields:
SKU
Product name
Type
Category
Costing method
Unit of measure
Click Save.
Cloning Products or Services
Clone existing items to quickly create similar products or services:
Navigate to Inventory > Products.
Select the product to clone.
Click Clone.
Adjust fields as needed.
Click Save.
Creating Product Variations
Group related product variations (e.g., shirts in various sizes/colors) into product families.
Learn how to create product variations.
Importing Inventory Lists
Efficiently create or update multiple products via CSV (max. 5000 lines per import):
Navigate to Inventory > Products.
Click Import > Inventory list.
Download and complete the CSV template (required fields: SKU, Product name, Type, Category, Costing method, Unit of measure).
Upload the CSV file.
Bulk Editing Products
Edit multiple products by exporting and re-importing CSV:
Navigate to Inventory > Products.
Click Export > Inventory list.
Edit the CSV file and save.
Re-upload via Import > Inventory list.
Deprecating or Deleting Products
Deprecate products to remove them from active operations while keeping historical data.
Delete deprecated products with no transactions to permanently remove their records.
Setting Products as Non-Sellable
Make products unavailable for sales (e.g., expired stock):
Navigate to Inventory > Products.
Select the product.
Change I am selling this product to No.
Product Information Fields
General Tab
Essential fields:
SKU: Unique product identifier (avoid leading zeros or spaces).
Product Name: Clearly identifies the product.
Type: Stock, Service, Gift Card, Non-inventory, Fixed asset.
Category: Segment your products.
Brand: Optional product segmentation.
Costing Method: Determines inventory valuation.
Unit of Measure: Default unit (e.g., item, kg).
Other important fields:
Status: Active or Deprecated.
Default Location: Storage location.
Barcode: For scanning operations.
Minimum Reorder / Quantity: Stock management.
Dropship: Supplier shipping options.
Bill of Materials (BOM): Components for assembly.
Tags and Pick Zones: Product grouping and warehouse efficiency.
Accounts and Tax Rules: Financial tracking.
HS Code / Country of Origin: Customs information.
Prices Tab
Set up to 10 price tiers manually or dynamically.
Custom customer-specific pricing.
Stock Tab
View product availability, stock movements, and delivery schedules.
Dimensions Tab
Specify product and carton dimensions for fulfillment.
Suppliers Tab
Link suppliers for automated replenishment (dropship, reorder).
Discounts Tab
Apply product-specific discounts for customers or groups.
Images and Attachments
Upload and manage product images and attachments, including CSV uploads.
Additional Units of Measure
Specify multiple units (e.g., single bottle, cases).
Channels Tab
Manage product listings on integrated sales channels.
Activity Log
Track changes to product details, including timestamps and user information.
Accounting Dimensions
Add tags for enhanced financial reporting (e.g., region, customer group).
